Explore historic rails along scenic Manatawny Creek through the historic Secret Valley. Ride at a calm, leisurely pace and enjoy the passing scenery. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including white-tailed deer, great blue herons, and bald eagles!
Along the way, you will explore the same magical rock cuts that were hand-dug by Civil War veterans in the late 1860s. Those rock cuts, which contain magnetic rock, spawned the first iron industry in the United States. They provided George Washington with cannonballs, and later brought Thomas Edison to the Secret Valley for an invention that was not as successful as the light bulb!
Railbikes are fun, easy-to-pedal vehicles designed for all ages! Our standard four-passenger railbikes offer a light leg workout. Because steel wheels rolling on steel rails have incredibly low friction, they are smooth and easy to operate. Bring family and friends to share the fun!
New this season! Upgrade to our premium, throttle-controlled electric-assist bikes (e-bikes). These can lighten the pedaling load or eliminate the pedaling completely, making the historic Secret Valley accessible and enjoyable for almost anyone, regardless of fitness level.
A Note on Nature & Safety: To ensure your safety and the structural integrity of our equipment, railbikes are not for use by persons over 250 lbs. Weight limits and even distribution are strictly enforced to prevent injury. Additionally, participants must be able to transfer into the railbike seat, and at least one adult (18+) is required per vehicle. All participants must sign a release of liability waiver prior to departure, and a parent or guardian must sign for any minors.
Some portions of the tour are only accessible by railroad. Like all vibrant forests, our valley is home to local wildlife and insects. Because we travel deep into the woods, we highly encourage any guests with known insect or environmental allergies to bring along their prescribed personal medications, including Benadryl or EpiPens. Our tour guides carry a basic first-aid kit for minor needs, but this is no substitute for the essential rescue medications you may require.
