Rail bikes operate from May through November.
It is our pleasure to host you on the Secret Valley Excursions - Rail Bikes of the Colebrookdale Railroad.
Are tickets sold by bike or per person?
To allow our customers maximum flexibility, tickets are sold per person. Each of our custom rail bikes has four seats. If your party does not fill all four seats on a bike, you may have the opportunity to share your bike with another friendly party or one of our expert tour guides.
How long is the excursion?
The total experience is approximately one hour.
Can kids ride?
Yes! We welcome children of all ages, provided that there is at least one adult on each bike to supervise. Please keep in mind that riders under 4' 6" may not be able to reach the pedals, but they are more than welcome to come along for the ride as long as they can safely occupy their own seat. For safety reasons, only one person may occupy a seat at a time. Sitting on a lap is strictly prohibited. However, infants are allowed to ride if they are securely strapped into a chest harness provided by the parent.
What is the weight limit?
For your safety and the structural integrity of the equipment, rail bikes are not for use by persons over 250 lbs. Weight exceeding 250 pounds or uneven weight distribution on the rail bikes can result in operational difficulty or injury. Therefore, riders exceeding this limit will not be permitted to ride.
Is it difficult?
People of nearly any age can enjoy rail biking! New this season, we are excited to offer electric-assist bikes (e-bikes) as a premium option. These are throttle-controlled and completely eliminate the need for pedaling, making the valley accessible to everyone. On our standard pedal bikes, riders should be fit enough to ride a standard bicycle. There are slight grades both up and down, as well as level sections of track. We recommend a leisurely pace so you can relax and take in the beautiful scenery of the Secret Valley.
What about the weather?
The bikes run in both sunny and rainy weather. If the weather becomes potentially dangerous, such as a lightning storm, high wind warnings, or severe weather alerts, we will cancel the tour. This decision is made at the sole discretion of the tour staff. If a ride is canceled by management due to weather, you will be issued a full refund via your original method of payment, or given the option to reschedule.
What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
We understand that plans change! Full refunds are provided for tours cancelled at least 72 hours before your scheduled departure time. Cancellations made within 72 hours of departure are non-refundable. However, you can reschedule your tour to a different date or time at any point prior to your departure. Please note that if Secret Valley Excursions must cancel a tour due to severe weather or safety considerations, you will have the choice of a full refund or a rescheduled date.
What should I wear?
Please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately for outdoor conditions. We recommend comfortable, loose-fitting clothes suitable for hiking or cycling. We strictly require closed-toed shoes to ride.
Should I bring anything?
We recommend bringing a camera or phone, drinks, snacks, sunscreen, bug repellent, and appropriate outerwear for the day's forecast, such as raincoats, windbreakers, or hats.
What is prohibited?
Prohibited items include alcohol, drugs, glass containers, pets, and firearms or weapons of any kind. Smoking and vaping are also strictly prohibited on the property and the bikes. For everyone's safety, anyone believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be permitted on the tour.
Can I bring my dog?
As much as we love dogs, they are not permitted on the rail bikes for their own safety. The moving chains, gears, and rail wheels present a severe hazard to pets. For the safety of your furry friends, please leave them safely at home. They may not be left unattended in vehicles, and we do not provide pet-sitting services.
I don't think railbiking is for me. Is there another way to experience the railroad?
Yes! Our partners at the Colebrookdale Railroad offer a variety of excursion offerings on their conventional train out of Boyertown, just fifteen minutes up the road. Check out their website for details.
Ride Tips
• Keep all body parts (hands, arms, legs) inside the ride at all times. Please pull long hair up and back.
• Please remain on the bike until it comes to a complete stop at the ride's unloading point.
• Stop riding before you become exhausted to avoid injuries or illnesses.
• Never ride while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
• Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes (please no open-toed shoes, flip flops, or sandals).
• Ride at a comfortable, leisurely pace. Our excursions are intended to be family-friendly, relaxing experiences. Please come ready to view the scenery and enjoy the natural landscape. Take pictures and roll slowly.

Participate responsibly; guests should be in good health to ride safely. You are responsible for knowing your own physical conditions and limitations. DO NOT RIDE if you suspect your health might be at risk or if you may aggravate a pre-existing condition of any kind.
By purchasing a ticket, you consent to allow Secret Valley Excursions and its partners to use your image or likeness incidental to any display, transmission, or reproduction of the event. Management reserves the right to refuse admission or eject any person whose conduct is deemed disorderly or fails to comply with company rules and safety guidelines.
